DECREE-LAW NO. 20/1986 WITH RESPECT TO AMENDING HE LAW OF SOCIAL INSURANCE PROMULGATED BY DECREE-LAW NO. 24 OF 1976*

We, Essa bin Sulman Al Khalifa, Amir of the State of Bahrain, Having reviewed the Constitution; And Amiri Order No. 4 of 1975; And the Law on Social Insurance promulgated by Decree-Law No. 24 of 1976 and Laws in amendment thereof; And upon the submission of the Minister for Labour and Social Affairs; And with the approval of the Council of Ministers; HEREBY DECREE THE FOLLOWING LAW :

Article 1

The share of the contribution which is payable by an employer subject to the provisions of the law on Social Insurance promulgated by Legislative Decree No. 24 of 1976 to the General Organisation for Social Insurance at the rate of 11% of the wages of the insured employees shall be reduced to 7% of the said wages. Also the contribution payable by the insured who is subject to the provisions of this Law to GOSI shall be reduced to 5% of his monthly salary. Such reduction shall apply to the contributions for insurance against old age, disability and death.

Every provision contained in the aforesaid Law which falls in conflict with this provision shall be repealed.

Article 2
The Minister for Labour and Social Affairs shall, after obtaining the consent of GOSI's Board of Directors, issue the necessary orders for implementing this Law.

Article 3

The Ministers, each in his respective capacity, shall implement the provisions of this Law, which shall come into force on 1st September, 1986 and be published in the Official Gazette.
